Time to Leave!

Wow! Where had the time gone?! Spent a little too much time lost on the net this morning and now I find myself needing to rush to get to work! I have an hour drive to work but it still doesn’t leave me with much spare time to compensate with. I need to gather my things that I’m taking with me on this day, mind you, it can change daily. Today, I’m bringing the newspaper, my lunch, my mocha, yes, my mocha. I like straight coffee but it doesn’t like me. And my hat.

I get out to my Jeep and start it’s morning ritual of “waking up” and tune in my radio to what I feel that morning. I think some easy listening will help me relax in my state of frenzy. Dang it!! I forgot my paper! I shut the engine off and take the keys with me as I go back into the house to retrieve that published piece of wood & ink. Grrrrr.

Okay, back in the Jeep, started once again and start thinking of my job and the work that needs to be attended to today. No heavy thinking, just a quick synopsis of what lays ahead. I start to pull out of the driveway when….Gosh dang it! I forgot my drink! Aaaargh! Put it back in park, shut the engine off, Again, go back inside and get my mocha. “Okay, this is really uncalled for Dale,” I say to myself. Frustrated, I get my mocha, get back in the Jeep and finally am headed down the road to work.

Now, I can take Highway 41 south, which runs right next to my neighborhood and connects to Highway 180 West to get where I need to go. This is the fastest way to work, but it’s not without it’s troubles. When I say troubles, I’m talking of tailgaters, stop sign runners, just reckless drivers in general. I stopped going this way for a long time until recently I thought I’d give it another try. Just out of town I came upon an accident at an intersection with one SUV on it’s side and a very high 4- wheel drive pickup with it’s front end smashed in. Really? The first time I go this way in months and I see this. I’ll go back another route.

This other route is straight thru the city on Westbound Shaw Ave. Yea, it’s a slower way, and it takes about 10 more minutes for me to get to work, but being a Type B personality, it’s worth it. After traveling about 7 miles I get into the country and here is where I can start to relax and just enjoy the ride and scenery. Mind you, I pride myself on being a defensive driver so I keep alert for the unexpected. It’s not unusual to come across various creatures as you head out into open areas. Creatures such as these, a coyotecoyote or maybe a opossumoppossum Same to you buddy! Hahaha!

As I get closer to work, I get to see more of the creatures, birds in particular, that have this land as their habitat. The Great Blue Heron is one I love to see in flight. Such a graceful bird with it’s large wing spanGreatBlueHeronFlying

Finally at work, and despite the complications of the morning, I made it with a few minutes to spare. Now, just gathering up my stuff. Grab my hat, put my wallet back in my pocket (it’s uncomfortable to sit on, you’ll have a sore butt if you don’t) grab the newspaper, take my mocha and grab my lunch….MY LUNCH!!! Awwww maaan!
